 another missing boat....
Well...
Sunday morning was a club outing to the Rouge.....
I loaded everyone's gear on the trailer.... The load was checked and secure.
One guy showed up last and he loaded a boat on the trailer.... no one double checked his tie down..
Off we go.
10 minutes past Alexandria Ontario we noticed that a boat was missing.
It was the new 2010 AllStar. Our member had loaded all his stuff in the boat jammed into the boat so it would fit on the trailer.
We went back to pick it up. In 10 minutes it was gone...
My wife went back to Alexandria this morning to go through the path again without luck. However she met a lady who witnessed 2 men in a older model pick up pick up the boat and gear within a few minutes of us passing her on the road.
These gentlemen have our boat.
We have posted signs everywhere in the Glengarry Region (we do mean everywhere) and put an add in the paper.

The boat is a red 2010 AllStar S/N: JKQ04818I910

The boat was outfitted with a 200 sweet cheek seat (thicker)

Herre is a link to a picture of the boat: www.dropshots.com/crew#date/2009-10-18/21:35:56

In the boat there is a black sweet strutter helmet, and red XTRA SPORT dry top, black dry pants, and level 6 skirt.

We are hoping that the 2 guys that picked it off the side off the road were being good Samaritans and intend to return the boat to the owner but.. if some tries to see you any of the listed equipment please let me know.

This is the first time I do not check the tie down of gear on my trailer... It will be the last. No matter who ties it down....

We just bought this boat. Please keep your eyes out.

Thanks for your help.

Boat has been found :) and returned to the club and gear to the owner :)
Hello,
Good news. Our campaign to find the boat was a success.

Here is some interesting facts.

Turns out that the guy and girl who picked up the boat actually passed us on the road after picking up the gear while we were looking for it. He did not stop.
They did not bring the boat to her home. They brought it to a store in St-Sauveur. Aviron Chasse et Peche and tried to sell it. The girl is an employee there.
After 2 weeks he saw the signs and campaign to find it and realized the boat would not sell. Called his girlfriend to pull it iff the floor. Then called us.
The funny thing is he actuqally told us this. Which is why we did not call the police.
I guess he felt bad. He is a local guy in Glengarry who runs a small legit hunting business.
Moral; of the story:
1- make sure your gear is secure on the vehicle.
2- make sure all your gear is identified and you know the serial number.
3- police report immediately
4- ad campaign works
5- post on all possible forrums and local free media

We have also created a facebookpage where you can post missing gear I hope you use it too. It works:
Here is the link: www.facebook.com/home.php?#/group.php?gid=167364750263

The boat is back where it belongs and all the gear too

Hope you use the facebook group and thanks for keeping youe eyes open.
